Templeton Named to AVCA East Coast Region Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s redshirt senior setter Haley Templeton was named to the 2018 AVCA All-East Coast region team for the second consecutive season, as announced Tuesday.
Templeton’s selection comes after her fourth All-ACC honor and second First Team accolade, after logging 961 assists, 156 digs, 86 kills and a team-leading 37 aces in her final season with the Canes.
“It means so much to be able to represent Miami and be named to the East Coast Team,” Templeton said. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of my coaches and team pushing me to be better every day.”
The Canes’ offensive leader finished her final collegiate campaign leading the ACC with 0.39 service aces per set and held the fifth-best average in assists with 10.22 per set.
The setter registered a season-high 59 assists in her last match for the Canes, which finished as the sixth-most assists for an ACC member during the 2018 season. Templeton ended her career third on Miami’s all-time assist list with 4,632, 341 shy of Jill Robinson in second place.
This is Templeton’s third AVCA honor in five seasons, having been named to the East Coast Region Team in 2017 and earning honorable mention in 2015.
“We’re thrilled to see Haley being named to the AVCA All-Region team again this season,” Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara said. “We’re proud of what she accomplished in her time at Miami and she is more than deserving of this award.”
