CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team travels to Syracuse and Boston College for its lone road trip in the month of October.
The match will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra and can be found here, while live stats will be available here.
Miami heads north to Syracuse, N.Y., to the Women’s Building with a three-match win streak intact, looking for its second road ACC win of the season. The Canes (9-4) remain undefeated at home in conference play after beating both UNC and NC State, 3-1, last weekend.
The Canes are currently tied for third in the ACC with Friday’s opponent, Syracuse, and in-state rival, Florida State, with a 5-1 ACC record. Miami and Syracuse are scheduled to play at 7 p.m., on Friday night.
Heading into this weekend’s matches, outside hitters Kolby Bird and Elizaveta Lukianova lead the Canes in kills with 141 each and freshman Chloe Brown is close behind with 136. The three have been dominant on offense but both Lukianova and Brown had big matches on the defensive front in the Canes last home match against NC State.
Lukianova recorded a career high with six blocks against the Wolf Pack while Brown finished with her second career double-double against UNC tallying a career high 21 digs and 12 kills against UNC.
Redshirt senior Haley Templeton continues to close the gap in career assists with 4,131, just 806 behind Jill Robinson in second place in program history. Templeton also sits second in the ACC with a 0.43 aces per set and leads the Canes with 20.
Syracuse welcomes the Canes with a 9-5 overall record and a 4-3 home record. The Orange is led by freshman Polina Shemanova in kills with 237, sitting fifth overall in the ACC. Shemanova averages 4.16 kills per set, second most in conference. Senior middle blocker Santita Ebangwese boasts Syracuse’s best attack percentage with a .396 off 127 kills. Ebangwese and Templeton are two of the four ACC players nominated for the senior CLASS award this season.
Following Friday night’s match, Miami will travel to Boston College on Sunday for a match at noon. Boston College hosts Florida State on Friday with a 12-6 overall record and a 2-4 ACC record. The Canes have won the last 17 matches against the Eagles, including last season’s 3-2 win.
