After more than two weeks off from competition, 17 Canes are entered in Friday’s race at The Claw, located next to the USF golf facility.

Sophomore Dylan Sykes has finished first for the men’s side in all three races this season. Sykes shed more than four minutes off his time in the 8K with a time of 25:39 in his last time out for the Canes.

Sykes will be joined by five others in the Men’s 8K scheduled for 5:45 p.m., including junior Matthew Wiefels, freshmen James Hasell and Sam Fleischman, sophomore Taj Bland and senior Sean Hagert. Friday’s race will be the first time Hagert competes for the Canes this season.

The meet will feature 24 teams, making this year’s Invitational the largest ever. The women’s 5K will feature 11 Canes scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Miami will feature three freshmen, Ryley Howard, Lauren Locke and Lauren Schiffenhaus with Schiffenhaus also making her first appearance for the Canes in Tampa.

Anne den Otter, the lone senior, looks to lead the Canes in their fourth meet of the season and improve off a season best time, 19:01, she sported at the Mountain Dew Invitational. Abby Kettle, Emma Langlois, Daria Pietropaolo, Olivia Raymond, Molly Rickles, Lauren Stolz and Simone Vreeland will also enter Friday’s race where nearly every team from the state of Florida is scheduled to compete in.

The 11 women competing for the Canes on Friday is the largest field Miami has entered so far this season.
