Hurricanes Ranked No. 17 in Both Major Polls

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes were ranked No. 17 in both the Associated Press top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll released Sunday.

The Hurricanes (4-1, 1-0 ACC), who topped North Carolina, 47-10, in their ACC opener on Sept. 27, fell one spot in both polls despite their dominant victory.

Miami’s position of No. 17 in the AP Top 25 was its 23rd straight appearance in the poll, marking the fifth-longest streak in program history. Miami’s 23rd consecutive position in the AP poll represents the ninth-longest active streak in the country.

Junior defensive lineman Joe Jackson, who recorded two forced fumbles, one interception returned for a touchdown and one sack, and running back DeeJay Dallas, who posted his second 100-yard rushing game of his career, were among Miami’s top performers against the Tar Heels. Miami’s defense scored three touchdowns to tie the school record in the victory.

The Miami Hurricanes continue their schedule on Saturday, Oct. 6 with their annual rivalry game with Florida State (3-2, 1-2 ACC). Kickoff for the matchup, set for broadcast on ABC, 560 WQAM, 990 AM ESPN Deportes and WVUM 90.5 FM, is set for 3:30 p.m. ET from Hard Rock Stadium.
