Introducing U: Mallory Olsson
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Hailing from Crystal Lake, Ill., freshman forward Mallory Olsson of the University of Miami soccer team went south after graduating high school, ready to compete in the ACC.
HurricaneSports.com caught up with the 5-foot-10-inch freshman out of Cumberland Academy to chat about a variety of subjects, including what she has liked most since joining in the spring . . .
Q: To start off, you have been at Miami for almost eight months now. How has the experience been thus far?
A: It was good getting back with the team, and to start practicing again. Also, just getting back to learning our style of play and getting used to seeing how the new freshman, that weren’t here in the spring, play with us.
Q: How would you describe yourself as a soccer player?
A: I am a strong and fast player, so I can hold off the ball and I can get in behind other defensive lines. Also, I am very vocal.
Q: What do you think you need to work on the most?
A: Being able to read the next play. Knowing what to do next and to be able to read the play, before that play even happens.
Q: What made you decide Miami was the school for you?
A: The Conference. Also, when I got on campus I could just picture myself here.
Q: What will it being like playing in that first ACC match?
A: Exciting. I am excited. I am excited to play in the ACC, to play very good teams and to just represent The U.
