Introducing U: Ariana Munoz

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the sixth installment of Introducing U, 5-foot-7-inch midfielder, Ariana Munoz, from Jacksonville, Fla., took the time to detail with HurricaneSports.com about her transition to UM and how the upperclassmen have assisted with this transition . . .

Q: To start off, you have been at Miami for almost a month now. How has the experience been thus far?
A: It has been pretty busy, from first moving in, then practicing and also getting to know the campus. But I have really enjoyed every moment, and being able to be with the team has been amazing. The girls are so sweet and were so welcoming, which has been great.

Q: What has been your favorite part about Miami thus far?
A: I really like the weather here. I really like the warm weather, and the campus is beautiful. And also, with just how diverse it is. I have already met people from so many different countries, which I love.

Q: Are there any upperclassmen in particular who have gone out of their way to help show you around and help you get acclimated?
A: Definitely our [redshirt senior] goalkeeper Phallon [Tullis-Joyce] and [junior midfielder Kristina Fisher] Krissy, they have really been helping me get to know everyone. And whenever they go out, they are always willing to take me with them. And really they have just been so sweet to me, and I really appreciate that.

Q: How would you describe yourself as a soccer player?
A: I would say I am more of a technical kind of player. I like being creative with the ball and I love dribbling. I feel that I have a good vision of the field with finding through passes and just slipping the ball over the top to our forwards into space.

Q: What made you decide Miami was the school for you?
A: There were a lot of reasons for why I chose Miami. The weather was definitely a key one. Also, when I arrived on campus I immediately fell in love with the campus. And also the environment here is just different. Obviously, it is competitive on the field, but off the field people are just willing to help you out and they are really welcoming.

Q: Do you know what you want to major in and, if so, how did you decide that?
A: For my major, I think that I am going to go into sports medicine. I want to stay in contact with the sport.
