CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Quick Hits gives University of Miami volleyball fans an opportunity to get to know the new student-athletes on the Hurricanes’ roster.
Last week’s edition of Quick Hits introduced the Texas native, Maddie Naumann to the Canes program. This week, we take a closer look at defensive specialist Emily Damon and find out more about the Florida native.

Q: Why did you decide to attend the University of Miami?
A: I decided to attend the University of Miami because of the competitive athletics, strong academics, and amazing opportunities.
Q: What has your time at Miami been like so far?
A: Awesome!! I love Miami so far!
Q: What has been your favorite part of being a Hurricane?
A: Being a part of the “U” Family and able to represent the University of Miami everywhere I go.
Q: Has anyone taken you under their wing, shown you around and helped with your transition to college? If so, who, and how have they helped you adjust?
A: All the older girls have helped me out with transitioning to college. They have all been really helpful with answering all of my questions and showing me around.
Q: Are there any classes you are taking so far that you like?
A: My PrecalculusII class has been great so far!
Q: What made you choose your major?
A: I have always wanted to go into the medical field and nursing has such great postgraduate opportunities.
Q: What are you most excited for about being in college?
A: Meeting new people, football games, and, of course, volleyball games.
Q: What do you like to do outside of your sport?
A: Anything active!

I committed to Miami over other schools because: I had a great connection with all three coaches, and I really believe in their system and way of coaching. Miami is also a school that is not only competitive athletically, but academically, too.
When I think of Miami volleyball, I think of: Teamwork, passion, and dedication
My favorite part of being a Hurricane student-athlete is: Being a part of a competitive volleyball program and getting to represent such an amazing school.
If I had to describe the team in one word it would be: Hard-working
The biggest adjustment from high school to college has been: Not having a car

My favorite moment in my volleyball career was: Coming back from a 9-14 deficit in the fifth set against our rival high school and winning the match in front of our home crowd.
