Canes to Play La Salle in Wooden Legacy Opener

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will play La Salle on Nov. 22 in its opener of the Wooden Legacy at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif. The UM-La Salle matchup is the first game of the tournament and will be played at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT on Thanksgiving Day, with ESPNU televising the contest.
 
Miami will play Northwestern or Fresno State on Nov. 23 (2 or 4:30 p.m. ET) and either Grand Canyon, Hawai’i, Seton Hall or Utah on the final day of competition, Nov. 25. The Hurricanes are appearing in the tournament for the second time (fifth-place finish in 2013).
 
Miami and La Salle have met four times in the previous six seasons – all UM wins – including the Canes’ 57-46 triumph last November on a neutral floor in Reading, Pa. La Salle holds a 9-8 series edge. The Explorers were 13-19 last season, including 7-11 in Atlantic 10 play.
 
Miami finished 22-10 last season, including an 11-7 record and third-place finish in the ACC. The Hurricanes reached the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and return seven letterwinners from that squad.
 
The Hurricanes’ full schedule for the 2018-19 season will be announced in the coming weeks.
