Bargfeldt Named ACC Pitcher of the Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior lefthander Jeb Bargfeldt was recognized with ACC Pitcher of the Week honors following a dominating performance against Boston College in his final start of the regular season.
Bargfeldt delivered the best performance of his career as a Hurricane against the Eagles, tossing a complete game shutout in the series opener in a 3-0 win on May 17.
The senior lefthander from Owasso, Okla., struck out seven and allowed just two singles, needing just 118 pitches to get through his second complete game of the year and the third of his career. He did not walk a batter and faced just four over the minimum.
ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel.
This is the first weekly league honor for Bargfeldt this season and the sixth time a Hurricane has been selected; junior outfielder Danny Reyes was named ACC Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 19, sophomore righthander Evan McKendry was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 26 and March 12 as well as ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 26, and junior Andrew Cabezas was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 23.
Bargfeldt and the Hurricanes return to the diamond Tuesday with their ACC Championship opener against Notre Dame at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
