CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team jumped two positions in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings to a season-best No. 16, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

This is the highest ranking for Miami (12-6, 8-3 ACC) since it placed No. 12 in the country on Jan. 25, 2017.

The Hurricanes are one of six ACC teams in the top 25, along with top-ranked North Carolina, second-ranked Georgia Tech, fourth-ranked Duke, No. 18 Florida State and No. 21 Virginia. Additionally, Wake Forest is No. 26, Syracuse is No. 28, NC State is No. 38 and Clemson is No. 48.

Miami, which has a 6-3 record against the other ranked ACC teams, features two nationally-ranked singles players.

Sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba ascended three spots and is now third nationally, the best mark of her career. She is the highest-ranked player in the ACC and is the first Hurricane in the top three since Julia Cohen on April 28, 2009.

Along with Perez-Somarriba, senior Sinead Lohan holds the No. 64 spot on the list. It is the second-best mark of the spring for the two-time ITA All-American.

For the second week in a row, Miami and UCLA are the only schools in the nation with four ranked doubles pairs.

Perez-Somarriba and junior Ana Madcur lead the way at No. 39 nationally. Madcur is also in the second-highest-ranked duo, as she pairs with Lohan at No. 77 on the list, a five-spot increase.

One spot behind that duo are Perez-Somarriba and junior Daniella Roldan, who sit at No. 78. Lastly, sophomore Dominika Paterova and freshman Ulyana Shirokova kept their No. 88 place in the rankings.

The Hurricanes will conclude their regular season home schedule Sunday at 11 a.m., when they host Virginia Tech at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
