Canes Rowing Facing UCF and Wisconsin

SARASOTA, Fla. — The University of Miami rowing team will face off against UCF and Wisconsin over two days this weekend in Sarasota, Fla.

The Hurricanes, Knights and Badgers will scrimmage in an exhibition on Friday afternoon, competing in 250m sprint pieces. The official 2000m racing is slated for Saturday morning, beginning at 8:15 a.m.

“We are looking forward to a great weekend of racing with two strong opponents on a spectacular race course,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “The scrimmage on Friday night will be an exciting format of short race pieces and should set up some great competition for Saturday’s official race.”

Miami has five boats ready to race this weekend, and the First Varsity 8 will kick off the competition at 8:15 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity 8 at 8:30 a.m. Miami’s First Varsity 4 will hit the water at 8:45 a.m., while the Second Varsity 4 is set to race at 9 a.m. and the Third Varsity 8 will hit the starting line at 9:15 a.m.
