W. Tennis Adds Match against Georgia State
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head women’s tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Monday the addition of a dual match to the team’s 2018 spring schedule.
No. 17 Miami (1-1) will take on Georgia State Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., in Fort Myers, Fla., at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
The contest against the Panthers is set to be the Hurricanes’ first of three outings at a neutral site this season, joining a March 9 doubleheader with Longwood and Florida State at the USTA Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
Aside from the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the Hurricanes played just two neutral site matches in the past 14 regular seasons, with both coming last year.
Miami has never before faced Georgia State (1-3), which features one nationally-ranked singles player in No. 108 Kristin Rehse.
The Hurricanes have two ranked singles players, as sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba checks in at No. 36 and senior Sinead Lohan places No. 41.
Miami returns to action Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m., when it meets No. 18 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., for a top-20 showdown.
