Kuck Named to All-ACC Academic XC Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Nathan Kuck was selected to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Men’s Cross Country Team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Kuck was one of 28 student-athletes recognized by the ACC for their excellence in competition and in the classroom. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

“Nathan is an outstanding student-athlete and just another example of our athletes excelling academically and athletically,” Miami director of track and field/cross country Amy Deem said.

Kuck was Miami’s top male finisher in all six races in 2017. The graduate student won the FAU Invitational and USF Invitational and posted three top five finishes. Kuck set the school record in men’s 8K at ACC Championships, placing 28th at ACCs with a time of 24:09.2 that was the highest individual finish in program history. Kuck also finished 29th at the NCAA South Regional with a 10K time that ranks seventh in UM history (31:54.0).

A graduate student in physical therapy, Kuck earned Book Buster club (3.0 GPA), Athletic Director honor roll (3.2 GPA), and Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.713 in the fall. In addition to her excellence on the race course and in the classroom, Kuck volunteered at the Police Athletic League Clinic and the Boys and Girls Club during his first semester as a Hurricane.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
