Knight Named ACC Performer of the Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Hasani Knight was named ACC Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
A freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., Knight earned a victory in his first competition as a Cane, winning the men’s triple jump at the UAB Blazer Invitational with a mark of 15.26m that ranks fourth all-time at Miami.
“I am happy for Hasani and I believe this is the first of many awards in his career,” Miami director of track and field/cross country Amy Deem said. “It’s exciting to see a freshman go out and compete so well in his first collegiate competition.”
Knight posted the winning mark on his first collegiate attempt, placing him atop the field of 10 competitors at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The freshman’s mark ranks second in the ACC and 19th nationally.
This is Knight’s first ACC Performer of the Week honor and the first weekly award for a Hurricane in 2018.
Knight and the Canes are back in action this weekend, traveling to Lubbock, Texas to compete at the Red Raider Invitational on Friday.
