Davon Reed Makes NBA Debut

PHOENIX – Former Miami standout guard Davon Reed made his NBA debut Sunday (Jan. 14) with the Phoenix Suns against the Indiana Pacers at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. He played five minutes and went 0-for-2 from the field.

Reed missed the first 2 1/2 months of the season after undergoing surgery to repair his meniscus last summer. At the time of his surgery, he was playing extremely well in the NBA Summer League, averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Selected 32nd overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, Reed averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 33 games for the Hurricanes as a senior. He was named Third-Team All-ACC in 2017 and also was selected to the ACC’s All-Defensive Team.He also earned the ACC’s 2017 Skip Prosser Award, presented to the top men’s basketball scholar-athlete.

Reed finished 16th in all-time scoring at Miami with 1,343 career points. He played in 131 career games (fourth in Miami history), including 99 starts and 84 consecutive starts, which is the fourth-longest streak in program history. He stands fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (39.5% / 202-512), consecutive games with a made 3-point field goal (27) and minutes played (3,679), seventh in 3-point field goals made (202) and eighth in games started (99), and 3-point field goals attempted (512).

Reed joins Shane Larkin of the Boston Celtics and Sheldon Mac (formerly McClellan) of the Washington Wizards as former Hurricanes on NBA rosters this season.
