Roy Firestone to Headline 2018 First Pitch Banquet
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Seven-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster and University of Miami alumnus Roy Firestone will headline the 2018 First Pitch Banquet on Friday, Feb. 9, head coach Jim Morris announced.
The banquet will take place in the University of Miami Fieldhouse adjacent to the Watsco Center on campus. A cocktail reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the H-100 Room of the Watsco Center, while the First Pitch Banquet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

“It should be a very special night. I’m very excited. I’ve known Roy for a long time,” Morris said. “He’s a Miami guy, who started here doing student radio on WVUM. He asked if he could do my last banquet, which is pretty special – it’s an honor to have him here. I’m very excited to listen to him, because he’s got a lot of great stories – he has had his own shows in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York, and he has won seven Emmys – he’s the man in that world. I’m really excited.”
