Miami Ranked in Top 10 for Third Straight Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Following a 24-19 win over North Carolina Saturday at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C. Miami maintained its position in the top 10 of both major college football polls released Sunday.
Miami (7-0, 5-0 ACC) climbed two spots from No. 8 to No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll, marking its highest ranking in that poll since October 27, 2013. The Hurricanes slipped one spot to No. 9 in the Associated Press rankings, falling from last week’s position of No. 8.
The Hurricanes, who are ranked in the top 10 of both polls for the third straight week, entered the season ranked in both preseason polls for the first time since 2010.
In their two seasons under the direction of head coach Mark Richt, the Hurricanes have been ranked in the top 10 of both polls in both seasons; in Week 6 of 2016, Miami was ranked No. 10 in both the Associated Press poll and Amway Coaches Poll.
Miami continues its ACC slate with a matchup against Virginia Tech (7-1, 3-1 ACC) on Nov. 4. Kickoff for the team’s annual Homecoming matchup is set for 8 p.m. on ABC from Hard Rock Stadium.
