WBB to Host Spartans in B1G/ACC Challenge
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will take on Michigan State in the 2017 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
In a matchup of teams that played in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, the Hurricanes are set to host the Spartans on Nov. 30 at the Watsco Center.
Michigan State went 21-12 last year, advancing to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament and earning a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans have made the postseason in 14 of the past 15 years, earning an NCAA Tournament berth in 13 of those seasons and reaching the Sweet 16 on three occasions. Michigan State has also logged 20-plus victories in 13 of the last 14 years, posting 25-plus four times.
Miami, coming off a 24-9 campaign, is 5-3 all-time in Big Ten/ACC Challenge games, including 3-2 at home and 5-1 in the past six seasons, with three straight wins.
The Hurricanes are 2-2 all-time versus Michigan State, with a 1-1 home record. Miami downed the Spartans, 76-60, in East Lansing, Mich., in the 2011 Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Overall, the ACC is 71-51 since the first Challenge in 2007, winning at least six games each season and earning seven Challenge titles.
