Lepore Drafted by Colorado Rockies in 24th Round
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior righthander Jesse Lepore was selected in the 24th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Colorado Rockies Wednesday.
Lepore, the No. 716 overall pick, joined teammate Carl Chester (No. 349, Tampa Bay) as Miami draftees through the first 24 rounds.
Lepore has compiled a 10-6 career record at Miami with a 3.33 ERA in 39 appearances spanning 156.2 innings.
The Beverly Hills, Fla., native has made 26 career starts for the Hurricanes. This past season, Lepore finished with a 4.83 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 69.0 innings.
In a sparkling sophomore campaign, Lepore helped lead Miami to the 2016 College World Series with a 9-0 record and a 2.20 ERA.
The 2017 MLB Draft continues Wednesday with Rounds 11-40.
