Top-10 Finishes Across the Board

CORAL GABLES, Fla.  The University of Miami men’s tennis team concluded the 2017 season ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region, as announced Wednesday afternoon by the ITA.

For the second consecutive season, the Hurricanes finished among the top-10 teams in the Southeast Region, after ranking ninth at the end of the 2015-16 season.

In addition to the team rankings, the individual lists were also revealed Wednesday, as Piotr Lomacki finished his junior campaign at No. 10 in the singles polls.

Lomacki has now finished top-10 in the region all three of his years at Miami, as he was eighth in 2014-15 and ninth in 2015-16. The native of Warsaw, Poland, earned a quintet of victories over ranked opponents in 2016-17 and led all Hurricanes with 12 singles wins.

Joining Lomacki, seniors Max Andrews and Jesse Flores completed their collegiate careers ranked No. 10 as a doubles pair.

On the season, the Canes’ duo knocked off three ranked opponents including a victory over the nation’s then-top-ranked team, Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim.

Nationally, Lomacki concluded this season at No. 63 in the ITA singles rankings, while Andrews and Flores formed the No. 58 doubles tandem.
