@CanesWTennis Climbs Seven Spots to No. 32
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team has continued its rise up the ITA national rankings, checking in at No. 32 in this week’s edition, as announced Tuesday.
Miami’s seven-spot rise from No. 39 in last week’s rankings is good for the second-largest jump in the nation. After ascending 13 positions in two weeks, the Hurricanes now have their highest ranking since placing No. 29 on March 14.
Head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team is coming off a 3-0 weekend in Virginia to cap the regular season. The trio of victories helped the Hurricanes earn the No. 4 seed and a double-bye in the ACC Championship.
In singles, Miami (11-10, 8-6 ACC) again has two ranked individuals. Junior Sinead Lohan and freshmen Estela Perez-Somarriba are both among the five highest-ranked players in the ACC, sitting in the No. 16 and No. 34 spots, respectively.
Lohan is also featured in the doubles rankings with redshirt senior Maci Epstein for the fifth consecutive release, with the duo holding the No. 73 position.
The Hurricanes will begin postseason play Friday at 1 p.m., in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship in Rome, Ga. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
