Canes Set to Begin ACC Championship Action
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team is set to start ACC Championship play Wednesday in Rome, Ga.
Miami, the No. 12-seed, will square off against Boston College, the No. 13-seed, at 10 a.m., in the opening round of the 2017 ACC Tennis Championship, at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. Live stats can be found HERE.
The Hurricanes are 8-12 all time in the ACC Championship, since making their first appearance during the 2005 season. Most notably, Miami reached the finals during the 2008 season, defeating Maryland, North Carolina and Florida State, before ultimately falling to Virginia in the championship match.
Miami (8-12, 2-9 ACC) will enter the match with a trio of Canes represented in the ITA rankings as junior Piotr Lomacki checks in at No. 64 in singles, as announced Tuesday.
Joining Lomacki for the fourth week in a row, seniors Max Andrews and Jesse Flores form the nation’s No. 55 doubles tandem.
Wednesday’s matchup will mark the 14th meeting between the Hurricanes and Eagles (5-17, 0-12 ACC), with UM leading the all-time series, 12-1. Riding a five match-winning streak in the series, Miami won the most recent matchup against BC, 7-0, on April 7.
The winner of Wednesday’s match, will face fifth-seeded Duke University Thursday at 1 p.m. Check out the complete tournament schedule HERE.
