MIAMI CONCLUDES HOMESTAND WITH FGCU
• The Hurricanes will conclude an eight-game homestand with a midweek matchup against visiting FGCU on April 12 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field (ACC Network Extra).

• Miami carries a commanding 16-3 all-time lead in the head-to-head series, but fell to the Eagles, 3-0, in the first matchup between the two teams this season on March 29. The loss was the first suffered by Miami in Fort Myers in the all-time series.

• The Hurricanes boast a 10-2 record against FGCU at Mark Light Field dating back to 2008, and has won five of the last six matchups at The Light.

• Miami freshman righthander Greg Veliz (3-2, 2.56 ERA) will start opposite FGCU’s righthander Peyton Gray (2-1, 2.25 ERA) Wednesday night.

LAST TIME OUT: CANES TOP BLUE DEVILS IN WEEKEND SERIES
• The Miami Hurricanes won two of three games to capture their weekend series against visiting Duke from April 8-10 at Mark Light Field.
• Trailing 7-0 in the seventh inning of Game 1, Miami scored nine runs over the game’ s final three innings, including a three-run, walk-off home run from senior Johnny Ruiz in the ninth, to clinch a 9-7, come-from behind win.

• Junior lefthander Jeb Bargfeldt tossed five shutout innings, junior Carl Chester homered in the first inning, and Miami clinched its series with Duke with a commanding 7-0 victory in Game 2 on April 9.

• Miami came up with another late rally in Game 3 to tie the game 2-2 in the eighth, but fell in extra innings after Duke plated three runs in the 10th.

VELIZ IMPRESSING IN MIDWEEK ACTION

• Freshman righthander Greg Veliz has served as Miami’s midweek starter through the first half of the season and has impressed in his role.
• Veliz tossed a career-long 6.1 innings and surrendered just one run in his start at nationally-ranked FGCU. He struck out four batters, walked three and allowed three hits.

• Against FAU on March 29, Veliz delivered 5.2 innings and allowed just one run. He struck out a career high-tying seven batters and allowed just three hits.

• Veliz has held batters to a paltry .165 average this season, and has 35 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.

DESTINATION: OMAHA

•  Miami made its second straight trip to the College World Series in 2016, marking the program’s 25th all-time trip to Omaha, Neb.

•  Miami’s 25 College World Series trips are the second-most of any program in the country. The Hurricanes have won 48 games in the College World Series, the fourth-most of any program; Miami’s four national championships rank fifth-most.

•  Since the NCAA began award national seeds prior to 1999, Miami has been among the top eight seven seasons: 1999 (#1), 2001 (#2), 2003 (#8), 2004 (#3), 2008 (#1), 2015 (#5) and 2016 (#3).

• The Hurricanes have never missed the College World Series when earning a national seed, making it all eight times they’ve earned the distinction.
