Lykes Named to All-USA Boys Basketball Team
University of Miami signee Chris Lykes has been named to the 2016-17 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boys Basketball Team, as announced by USA TODAY High School Sports.
Lykes, a third team honoree, is a 5-foot-7-inch guard who has averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals this season for Gonzaga High in Washington, D.C.
In mid-February, Lykes broke his school’s career scoring record, besting the previous mark of 2,069 points, set by Tom Sluby (Notre Dame ’80-84, Dallas Mavericks) from 1976-80.
Lykes was the Gatorade Washington, D.C., Player of the Year and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year last season.
Lykes is expected to arrive on the UM campus in time for the Summer B session of classes, which begins July 6.
