@CanesWTennis Hosts Florida State to Open ACC Play
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team will begin conference action Tuesday with an in-state rivalry showdown against Florida State.
After nine days without a match, No. 21 Miami (1-2) will meet the Seminoles at 10 a.m., at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes have a 33-6 all-time record against Florida State, including winning each of the first 15 completed matches and owning a 14-1 mark at home. Miami’s 33 victories are its second-most versus any opponent and the 39 completed matches are its third-most against any team, with both ranking as the highest total against an ACC opponent.
In the most recent matchup between the two teams, Miami earned a 6-1 road triumph over then-No. 71 Florida State on March 2, 2016.
The Seminoles (6-1) enter Tuesday’s meeting on a five-match winning streak. Florida State does not have any players or doubles pairs in the ITA national rankings.
As for Miami, the Hurricanes feature a trio of ranked singles players in junior Sinead Lohan at No. 6, freshman Estela Perez-Somarriba at No. 94 and redshirt senior Maci Epstein at No. 100. In doubles, junior Silvia Fuentes and redshirt sophomore Yolimar Ogando form the No. 54 duo in the country.
