@HurricanesGolf to Tee-It-Up on Sunday at the Allstate Challenge
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Riding the momentum of five straight top-three finishes, the No. 11-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team returns to action on Sunday, as it will faceoff against some of the nation’s top teams at the 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl Challenge in New Orleans.
THE BASICS
-The tournament will follow a 54-hole format.
-Tulane, tournament host.
-Play begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday and Monday. Final round competition begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

THE WORD ON THE CANES
The Miami women’s golf team has been a model of consistency throughout the 2016-17 season as it has finished in the top three in each of its tournaments this year.
The Hurricanes are coming off their second first-place finish of the year as they tied for first at the 2017 UCF Challenge.
The Hurricanes posted an impressive 2016 fall season during which they posted three top-three finishes, including a dominating performance at the Mary Fossum Invitational, as Miami won by 40 strokes. The Hurricanes finished the fall campaign with a 286.22 team average.
Miami enters this weekend’s Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, averaging 285.50 strokes per round.
DEWI CONTINUES TO DOMINATE
The Canes are led by sophomore standout Dewi Weber, who has posted top-10 finishes in seven of her last eight tournaments during back to the 2016 spring season.
Additionally, Weber claimed individual crowns at two of the three tournaments in the fall, winning outright titles at the Mary Fossum Invitational and the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
COMPETING TEAMS – CANES ENTER LOADED TOURNAMENT FIELD
Several of the nation’s top collegiate golf teams will compete at this year’s Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate. The 17-team field features seven of the top 25 teams in the nation in the most recent Golfstat.com rankings, including No. 1 ranked Stanford and reigning NCAA champion and No. 65 ranked Washington.
The tournament field also includes No. 3 Florida, No. 11 Miami (Fla.), No. 19 UCF, No. 20 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Texas and No. 23 Arizona. Rounding out the field is No. 39 Oregon, No. 43 Clemson, No. 51 Denver, No. 52 Virginia, No. 55 Mississippi State, No. 57 Houston, No. 74 UTSA and No. 88 LSU.
Among the individuals, 10 of the nation’s top 50 golfers are set to participate.
THE LINEUP
Dewi Weber
-Averaging a team-best 70.46 heading into this week’s tournament.
-Tied for sixth at the Florida Challenge.
-Won medalist honors at the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
-Captured medalist honors at the Fossum Invitational.
-2016 NCAA National Runner-up.
Filippa Moork
-Tied for 12th at the Betsy Rawls Invitational to close out the fall season.
-Tied for 20th at the Jim West Challenge.
-Has posted a scoring average of 72.93.
-One of three freshmen on this year’s roster.
Delfina Acosta
-Tied for 14th at the Florida Challenge to open the spring season.
-Tied for 15th at the Jim West Challenge.
-Opened the 2016-17 season by finishing third at the Fossum Invitational.
-The only senior on this year’s roster.
Renate Grimstad
-Tied for third at UCF Challenge to lead the team.
-Tied for sixth last at the Florida Challenge.
-Posted a season-low 69 in the final round of play at the Jim West Challenge.
-Tied for 22nd at the Fossum Invitational.
-One of three freshmen on this year’s roster.
Macarena Aguilera
-Tied for 35th at the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
-Tied for 44th at the Fossum Invitational in her Miami debut.
