The Series – Miami vs. Louisville
Then-No. 12/11 Miami defeated then-No. 11/- Louisville, 73-65, in last year’s matchup behind 17 points from Davon Reed.
Miami’s win over Louisville last season was their first over the Cardinals since 1963.
The Canes narrowly lost their last road meeting with the Cardinals falling, 55-53, in 2015. The Hurricanes will be searching for their first win in program history at Louisville. They have, however, only played the Cardinals three times on the road.
Under Coach L, Miami is 1-2 against Louisville. Prior to Larrañaga arriving in Coral Gables, the Canes were 2-7 against the Cardinals.

On the Road at Louisville
Louisville is one of three locations in which the Hurricanes have not won an ACC game under Coach L. The Canes are 0-1 at Louisville, 0-3 at Virginia and 0-3 at Wake Forest since 2011-12. Miami lost at WFU earlier this season, and will play at Virginia on Feb. 20. Miami has a .500 record or better on the road against nine ACC squads. A complete list is on page five of the notes.

Ranked Opponents Ahead for Miami
Four of Miami’s final seven regular season games will be played against teams currently listed in national polls. The Canes, who are receiving votes in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, host No. 18/19 Duke (2/25) later this season. UM faces three ranked teams on their respective home courts: No. 4 Louisville (2/11), No. 12/13 Virginia (2/20) and No. 14/15 Florida State (3/4).
Of Miami’s seven remaining games, four are against teams ranked above the Canes in the current ACC standings: Florida State (9-3), Virginia (8-3), Louisville (7-4), Duke (6-4). Three are against teams ranked lower in the ACC: Virginia Tech (5-6), Georgia Tech (5-6) and Clemson (3-8).

R33D from Downtown
Senior guard Davon Reed drained 7-of-10 shots from long range at NC State, setting his career high in threes made, on his way to a career-best 26 points. In the next game, he went 4-of-8 from distance against VT.
Reed has knocked down 48 shots from long range in the past 15 games. He hit seven at NC State and five against both Duke and FAU. For the year, he is 61-146 (41.8%) from downtown, hitting multiple 3-pointers in 17 outings, including three-or-more 11 times.
Reed has hit at least one three in every game this season (23 games). In 2011-12, Malcolm Grant tied Jack McClinton’s school record (set in 2008-09) of 35 straight games hitting a 3-point shot.

The ACC Gauntlet
Miami opened the 2016-17 conference slate with four of six games on the road and will end the season with three of four away from home, which includes road games at No. 12/13 Virginia and No. 14/15 Florida State, while playing No. 1/19 Duke at home.
