Since Coach L’s arrival at Miami in 2011-12 …
Coach Jim Larrañaga is 4-2 against Duke during his tenure as head coach at Miami. Prior to his arrival, the Canes were 2-15 against the Blue Devils. Coach L has earned four of UM’s six all-time wins against the Blue Devils.
Miami is a combined 8-6 over Duke (4-2) and North Carolina (4-4) under Coach L. In the five years prior to Larrañaga, the Canes were 1-14 combined against the Blue Devils (1-7) and Tar Heels (0-7).
Miami is one of two teams in the country to beat Duke four or more times (Notre Dame five times). Miami (4-2) and Notre Dame (5-1) are the only ACC schools with a winning record over Duke after playing multiple games.

Canes on ESPN’s College Gameday
Miami’s game against Duke will be the second time the Canes have played on ESPN’s College GameDay. The first was an 82-65 loss to then-No. 5/6 North Carolina at the Smith Center on Jan. 17, 2009. In that game, Jack McClinton had 21 points for the Hurricanes (then 13-4, 2-2), who led by nine in the first half and trailed by just four with 17 minutes left.
Miami vs. Duke Under Coach L (4-2)
Miami has outscored Duke, 460-426, in six games under Coach L. The Canes have made 46.9 percent (165-352) of their shots while the Blue Devils have hit only 40.6 percent (152-374). From long distance, Miami is 41-113 (36.3%) and Duke is 44-143 (30.7%). UM has been outrebounded by Duke, 236-229, but Miami has scored more points in the paint (206-186).

Miami Boasts Three Top 15 Winningest Coaches
Miami is the only FBS school with head coaches in football, men’s basketball and baseball that rank among the 15 winningest active coaches in their respective sports. Basketball coach Jim Larrañaga is No. 14 with 600 wins, football coach Mark Richt is No. 10 with 154 victories and baseball coach Jim Morris is third with 1,535 games won.

Miami has made six-or-more shots from three in every ACC game, after doing so in only eight of 12 non-conference outings.
For the season, the Canes have shot better than 45 percent in 11 games, and only twice in ACC play.
UM’s defense has held opponents to shoot less than 30 percent from downtown in nine games and has forced double-digit turnovers in 13 outings.

Brown Ranked Nationally Among Freshmen
Freshman Bruce Brown is highly ranked among freshmen in the nation, as well as among all players in the ACC and in NCAA stats. Among rookies around the country, he is 14th in steals per game, and third among freshmen guards in both rebounds per game and in defensive rebounds. In the ACC (all players), he is tied for 10th in steals, and tied for 16th in rebounds per game.
Canes in National Stats
Miami is ranked in the top 100 in 13 NCAA statistical categories, through games as of Jan. 18. The Canes are 11th in scoring defense (61.5), 12th in fewest fouls, and No. 19 in field goal percentage defense (39.1%). R33D from Long Range
Senior guard Davon Reed has knocked down 28 shots from long range in the past nine games. He hit five against FAU, four at Pitt, three against SC State, George Washington, Columbia, NC State and Wake Forest, and a pair at Syracuse and vs. Notre Dame. For the year, he is 41-106 (38.7%) from downtown, hitting multiple 3-pointers in 13 outings, including three-or-more eight times. He has hit at least one three in every game this season.
Huell Puts Up Solid Numbers at Wake Forest
In his fifth ACC game, freshman Dewan Huell recorded nine points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes at Wake Forest, all of which are his personal-best marks in league action. In his first four ACC games, Huell totaled 12 points and six rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game.
Brown Finding His Touch from Downtown
Freshman Bruce Brown is knocking down 3-pointers at a 55.0 percent clip in the past seven games, after hitting only 20.8 percent of his threes in the first 10 games. Since the game against GW, Brown has drained 11-of-20 from long range and improved to 11.6 points per game in those seven outings. Prior to GW, Brown was 5-of-24 from long range, and averaging 10.4 ppg.
Lucky Sevens from Long Range
Miami has made at least seven shots from long range in 114 of Larrañaga’s 192 games at UM. The Canes are 89-25 when making at least seven from 3-point range. This season, Miami is 7-2 when hitting seven from deep. 2015-16: 17-3; 2014-15: 18-5; 2013-14: 9-6; 2012-13: 19-3; 2011-12: 19-6.
