Q&A

1.     Why did you decide to attend the University of Miami?

“I decided to attend UM because I really like small groups when it comes to the class sizes and practice time. Plus, it’s Miami. Who doesn’t like it here?”

2.      What was the best aspect of being part of Miami’s Track & Field team so far?

“The best aspect about being on the track and field team so far is that everyone works hard so there isn’t room for anyone to slack.”

3.     What are some of your goals for the season?

“My number one goal is to improve my personal best this year, since last year I didn’t get to do so. Also, it would be great if I ended up getting first place in one or more of our big meets this year.”

4.     What do you feel was the biggest challenge you came across in since your arrival?

“I think the biggest challenge for anyone starting college is the transition from high school. Also, the intensive training takes a toll on my body, so I’ve had to get used to that.”

5.     What is the biggest difference between your previous training and your training at the University of Miami?

“The only difference in my training now is that I lift weights. I’m not doing as much running as I did in high school because I’m only jumping, so it’s not too bad, I just feel sore some days.”

6.     What do you do to prepare right before a meet?

“I’m not sure what I’ll be doing this year in college, but back home my lovely mother would always make me pasta and shrimp. I would also listen to music, clear my mind, and make sure I had some long tights because I perform my best when our track meets are the hottest.”

7.     What do you do away from practice and studying to relax?

“When I’m not practicing or studying, I like to sleep a lot and watch Netflix.”

8.     Three words to describe you and why?

“Caring, Ambitious, and Humorous. I grew up with family around all the time, so I became very caring, even though I mostly present my tough side. I’m ambitious because I work hard to go after what I want, not because I’m told to but because I want to. I also consider myself humorous. I’m really silly and funny. I am not trying to be funny on purpose, but I just end up making people laugh when I’m being spontaneous. Plus, who doesn’t like to make people smile and laugh? You never know if someone is having a bad day.”

Fill in the Blank

Coral Gables is different from my hometown because:  My hometown, Naples Fla., is a city where a lot of older people live. Coral Gables, in my opinion, is where there are a lot of young people living. It’s also really busy here.
