CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team announced today that world amateur standout Roos Haarman has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career, beginning in the fall of 2017.

Haarman comes to Miami following a decorated amateur career in the Netherlands where she competed on the Dutch National team.

“Roos will be a tremendous addition to our team next season,” said head coach Patti Rizzo. “She brings an incredible amount of amateur experience to our team and I couldn’t be more excited for her to join our team next season.”

The Putten, Netherlands native comes to Miami ranked in the top 300 (262 overall) of the World Amateur Rankings.

Haarman captured her first amateur championship crown during the 2014 Faldo Series where she posted scores of 71, 72 and 69.

That same year, Haarman would go on to claim the first of two Dutch National Open Championships. Her second Dutch National Open Championship came in 2016 after she carded scores of 74, 73, 69 and 73.

In match play competition, Haarman has been equally impressive as she claimed the 2015 and 2016 Dutch National Championships. She also claimed the Dutch National Under 21 Match Play crown.

Haarman’s addition to next year’s squad adds to an already impressive group of international amateur talent the Hurricanes have welcomed in the past two seasons.

Last year Miami added standouts Macarena Aguilera, Renate Grimstad and Filippa Möörk to the squad all of which featured strong international amateur backgrounds. Aguilera held the No. 1 ranking in Argentina, Grimstad posted five top 10 finishes in Norway and Möörk came to The U after being ranked No. 144 in the World Amateur Rankings.
