@CanesFutbol Returns Home to Face Louisville
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will open its last homestand of the 2016 regular season Thursday night against Louisville.
The Hurricanes and Cardinals are set to kick off at 7 p.m., at Cobb Stadium in Miami’s first home match in 18 days.
This will be the teams’ third meeting as ACC counterparts. The sides played to a 1-1 double overtime draw in Coral Gables in 2014 and Louisville earned a 1-0 home win last year despite Miami holding an 18-7 edge in shot attempts.
Miami and Louisville both enter the match with nine points in ACC play, tied for eighth place in the elite conference’s standings. The ACC Championship expanded back to eight teams this season.
The Hurricanes are 8-7-0 (3-4-0 ACC) on the season and are coming off consecutive 1-0 road defeats. Miami has won each of its last three home affairs, all against conference opponents, and is 6-3 at Cobb Stadium this season.
Fourth-year head coach Mary-Frances Monroe’s team is third in the ACC in assists (33), fifth in points (87) and tied for fifth in goals allowed (12).
Louisville brings a 7-4-4 (2-3-3 ACC) record into the match and has played nine straight matches, including seven in ACC play, that have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie. The Cardinals went 8-8-2 (4-5-1 ACC) in 2015.
As is the case with all games at Cobb Stadium, entry to Thursday evening’s game is free. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive Miami soccer-branded water bottles and team posters will be available for all fans.
