@CanesFutbol Opens ACC Play at No. 3 Florida State

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami soccer team is set to start its 2016 conference slate when it takes on third-ranked Florida State Sunday at 1 p.m., at Seminole Soccer Complex.

This will be the first time the Hurricanes play in Tallahassee, Fla., since 2013. Last year was the first time since the inception of Miami’s program in 1998 the two sides did not meet.

Sunday’s contest will be the Hurricanes’ 18th all-time matchup against Florida State, their most against any opponent.

Miami enters the game at 5-3-0 on the season with all five wins via shutout. Each of the Hurricanes’ last four outings have finished 1-0, with Miami winning two and dropping the others.

Through eight matches, the Hurricanes are in the top five in the ACC in points, goals, assists, shots, goals allowed and saves.

Florida State, the top-ranked team in the nation until this week when it moved to No. 3, is 6-1-0 on the season. In 2015, the Seminoles finished 18-3-4 (6-1-3 ACC) and reached the College Cup.
