Lomacki and Langmo Ranked in ITA Preseason Polls

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior classmates, Piotr Lomacki and Christian Langmo, have made appearances in the preseason Oracle ITA poll for both the singles and doubles rankings.

Lomacki, a member of the 2016 All-ACC Second Team, has been ranked the No. 31 singles player in the nation and Langmo is ranked No. 58 in the preseason poll. The duo checks in at No. 50 in the doubles poll.

“It’s always good to have players ranked. We are excited to see how Piotr and Christian will continue to develop as well as how they will help our team grow and improve,” Coach Aljosa Piric explained.

Lomacki, from Warsaw, Poland, finished his sophomore season ranked No. 50 after leading the team with 14 singles victories in the spring and 20 wins overall. After a strong spring campaign, he was selected for the NCAA Singles Championship, the first Hurricane to do so since 2009.

Langmo, from Boca Raton, Fla., finished his sophomore season with 17 victories combined from the fall and spring. He earned a victory over the 85th-ranked player in the country and his only loss in the spring was to the 106th-ranked player in the nation.

The Hurricanes return eight members from last season’s squad, including two seniors, five juniors and one sophomore.

“We know we have a lot of talented and experienced guys back and our goal is to work hard and smart enough so we allow ourselves the best opportunity to be successful at the end of the year, particularly leading into ACC and NCAA tournaments,” Piric said.

With first year coaches Piric, assistant Petar Danolic and volunteer Pablo Gor Costalez leading the charge, the Hurricanes are set to open the season next weekend, Friday, Sept. 23, at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
