@CanesFutbol Travels to Face Stetson
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Coming off a 7-0 victory at North Florida in the first match of the regular season, the University of Miami will play at Stetson Sunday at 1 p.m., in the second half of its two-match road swing.
The Hurricanes and Hatters will meet at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand, Fla., in the second match of the year for both sides.
Miami (1-0-0) has won nine of its 10 meetings all-time against Stetson (0-0-1), but the sides have met just once in the regular season over the last five years. The Hurricanes have outscored the Hatters, 42-5, over those 10 matchups, posting six shutout victories, including three in a row.
In the victory over North Florida, Miami broke a program record by tallying 41 shots. Freshman forward Kristina Fisher tallied a brace and an assist, while junior forward Ronnie Johnson and redshirt senior defender Shannon McCarthy each logged one goal and one assist. The goals for McCarthy and Fisher were their first as Hurricanes.
Stetson played to a 1-1 double overtime draw against FIU in its first match of the regular season and finished the 2015 campaign with a 10-8-1 (4-3-1 ASUN) record.
The contest at Stetson will be Miami’s final non-conference road match, as it will return to Coral Gables for a six-match homestand before beginning ACC play Sept. 18 at top-ranked Florida State.
