@CanesVB Announces 2016 Broadcast Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team announced that 18 matches will be broadcast live during the 2016 season.
The Hurricanes will have 18 matches aired across multiple platforms, including 11 home matches on ACC Network Extra. Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara is excited to have over half of the team’s matches slated for broadcast this coming season.
“It’s great to have so many of our matches available for our fans to watch all over the world,” Gandara said. “With a roster that has players from different states and countries, it is great for our program and our fans to be able to watch Hurricane volleyball no matter where they live.”
Miami will play two home matches on their season-opening weekend and both will be carried on ACC Network Extra. The Canes kick off the regular season at 6 p.m. on Aug. 26 against Florida A&M. A day later, the Canes will host Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m.
In September, the Hurricanes will have two road matches broadcasted: Sept. 9 at Kansas State (8:30 p.m., FCS-Atlantic) and Sept. 23 at Florida State (7 p.m., ACC Network Extra). The Canes will close out September with a pair of home matches that will are on ACC Network Extra: Sept. 25 at 11:30 p.m., against Notre Dame and Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., vs. Boston College.
Seven of Miami’s nine scheduled matches in the month of October will be broadcasted, beginning with matches against Syracuse on Oct. 2. Miami’s matches at NC State (Oct. 7, 7 p.m., ACCN Extra), at North Carolina (Oct. 9, 1 p.m., RSN/ACCN Extra) and at Louisville (Oct. 30, 2 p.m., ACCN Extra), as well as home matches against Pittsburgh (Oct. 14, 7 p.m., ACCN Extra), Virginia Tech (Oct. 16, 1 p.m., ACCN Extra) and Florida State (Oct. 19, 7 p.m., RSN/ACCN Extra) round out the broadcast schedule in October.
November, the final month of the regular season, will feature five Hurricane matches broadcasted on ACC Network Extra. All four of Miami’s home matches in November will be broadcasted, beginning with matches against North Carolina (Nov. 4, 7 p.m.) and NC State (Nov. 6, 1 p.m.). The Canes’ final two games of the regular season, Nov. 23 against Georgia Tech at 7 p.m., and Nov. 25 at noon against Clemson, as well as their match at Duke (Nov. 20, 1 p.m.) will air on ACC Network Extra.
An ACC record 331 Olympic sporting events will be streamed live this fall by ACC Network Extra, a dedicated digital channel for ACC sports which makes its debut Friday, Aug. 19.
The events covered by ACC Network Extra will be immediately available to users who have access to WatchESPN and the ESPN app. More than 600 total Olympic sporting events – encompassing the fall, winter and spring seasons – will be carried exclusively by ACC Network Extra during the 2016-17 academic year.
Miami brings back nine players from a 2015 squad that went 21-10, including 14-6 in the ACC. The Hurricanes finished 2015 with at least 20 wins for the second consecutive season under Gandara. In addition, Miami also appeared in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, facing Iowa State in the opening round. The Canes have now reached the tournament in all three of Gandara’s seasons at the helm of the program and in each of the previous seven seasons.
Miami will open the 2016 season with the UM/FIU Invitational on Aug. 26-27, the first of four non-conference tournaments on the 2016 Canes schedule. The Hurricanes will host Florida A&M in the season opener at 6 p.m., on Aug. 26. Miami will play at FIU at 11:30 a.m., on Aug. 27 before returning to its home floor for a match against Coastal Carolina that is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
