Bondar Named ITA Scholar-Athlete
Kevin Bondar, a rising junior at the University of Miami, has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete, the association announced today.
Bondar, from Calabasas, Calif., is enrolled in UMiami’s dual-degree program in medicine – a seven-year BS/MD program associated with the Miller School of Medicine.
He is a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll honoree and was on the All-ACC Men’s Tennis Academic Team in 2015. For the 2015-16 academic year, he was named to the President’s List (4.0 GPA), Provost Honor Roll (3.75+ GPA), Dean’s List (3.5+ GPA), Athletic Director Honor Roll (3.2+ GPA), and Book Buster Honor Roll (3.0+ GPA).
On the court, Bondar won the flight two doubles championship with four straight victories at the Bedford Cup-State of Florida Championship in September. He also won two of three matches at the 2015 USTA/ITA Men’s Division I Southeast Championship and played in the garnet singles quarterfinals of the 2015 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational. In the spring, he picked up a pair of ACC doubles victories over duos from Notre Dame and Boston College.
