Class of 2016 Graduate: Angel Rodriguez

This summer/fall, I plan to work out, stay in shape, and do whatever I have to do to put myself in a good position before NBA workouts come, so that I do well.

Playing for the Hurricane basketball team was an unbelievable experience. I consider Miami my home and being able to play here and doing a lot of special things was definitely something that I will never forget.

In two years at Miami I have built a lot of great relationships. I’ve done a pretty good job to make sure everybody sees the type of person I am, so I can be remembered as more than just a basketball player.

Some of my best memories of my time at Miami were beating Duke at Duke, beating Florida at Florida, and making it to the Sweet 16.

There were a lot of professors at Miami that I enjoyed, but I think two of my favorite professors were Professor Wendy Dees and Dr. Martin. I’ve made sure that I have told them personally too.

With Coach L, his impact on me has been more off the court. It’s very easy for a coach to impact you as a player, but Coach L takes a lot of pride in helping you become a man. He is helping you become a professional, helping you get ready for the next step, which is not just for basketball, but for whatever it is that you do in life.  He helps with the little things like networking and being polite, and just being a nice person. That has made a tremendous impact on my life. That’s why the relationship that we have is very special. He goes far beyond just basketball.

In five years I hope to be still playing basketball at a very very high level, whether it be the NBA or in Europe.
