Three from @CanesSwimDive Named All-ACC Academic
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Three representatives from the University of Miami women’s swimming & diving team were recognized with All-ACC Academic honors, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Freshman Carolyn Chaney, sophomore Wally Layland and senior Kara McCormack were among those honored by the ACC.
Chaney, a biology major, recorded a GPA of 3.506 in her first year and was named to the Book Buster and Athletic Director honor rolls.
Layland, who registered a GPA of 3.45 in her first two years, has been named to the Book Buster and Athletic Director honor rolls, and has earned Dean’s List recognition.
McCormack earned an undergraduate GPA of 3.962 while majoring in mathematics, and is now pursuing a graduate degree in the same field. She joined Emma Nunn of North Carolina as one of just two student-athletes in the conference to be honored for the fourth time.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
