CANES TRAVEL TO TOBACCO ROAD TO BATTLE DUKE
• After capturing an 8-4 win over UCF Wednesday to extend its winning streak to 11 straight games, top-ranked Miami travels to Durham, N.C., for a weekend ACC series with host Duke.
• The Hurricanes have swept back-to-back regular season series against the Blue Devils, and have won eight straight games in the head-to-head series. UM is 33-7 all-time vs. Duke and 13-1 in Durham.
• Miami has a four-game lead in the ACC’s Coastal Division with an 11-2 record, including three-game sweeps of Clemson and North Carolina. Duke is 19-15 overall and 6-9 in ACC play.
• Senior lefthander Thomas Woodrey (3-2, 4.89 ERA) will oppose Duke junior righthander Bailey Clark (3-3, 5.40 ERA) in the opener.
CLIMBING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
• Closer Bryan Garcia entered the year with the fifth-most saves in Miami history (25), and has gotten off to a hot start in 2016. His ACC-leading 10th save of 2016 against UCF last time out (April 13).
• 35 career saves are the most by any active pitcher in the nation. • Garcia is chasing the all-time record for saves in a career for a Miami reliever , which is 39 – held by George Huguet (2001-2004).
• Garcia moved past Robbie Morrison (1996-98, 34) for third in the history of Miami baseball with his 35th career save on April 13. He needs two more to tie Rick Raether (1984-86) for second (37) and is four behind Huguet to move into a tie for first (39).
HOT STREAK
• Miami’s 11-game winning streak is now the longest in the nation, after Lamar’s 15-game streak was snapped on April 13.
• Miami’s five-game road winning streak is tied for third-longest.
•The Hurricanes 87.0 winning percentage (27-4) was tops in the nation on April 13.
DESTINATION: OMAHA
• Miami made its return to the College World Series in 2015, marking the program’s first trip to Omaha, Neb., since 2008. Miami’s 24 College World Series trips are the second-most of any program in the country.
• The Hurricanes have won 48 games in the College World Series, the fourth-most of any program nationwide; Miami’s four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999, 2001) rank fifth-most.
• Since the NCAA began award national seeds prior to the 1999 season, Miami has been among the top eight six seasons: 1999 (#1), 2001 (#2), 2003 (#8), 2004 (#3), 2008 (#1) and 2015 (#5).
• Of the 41 teams that have been awarded national seeds since 1999, Miami is one of just 12 programs to have earned the distinction five or more seasons.
