CANES & HEELS MEET AT THE LIGHT
• After its midweek game at FAU was postponed due to rain, No. 3 Miami returns home to Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field for a three-game series against No. 9 North Carolina.
• The Hurricanes carry a 34-26-1 all-time lead in the head-to-head series against the Heels, including a 21-10 lead in games played in Coral Gables. The series is tied 5-5 in the last 10 matchups.
• Miami has won back-to-back series against North Carolina (2014 and 2015), and has won five of the past six head-to-head weekends dating back to 2010 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015).
• Senior lefthander Thomas Woodrey (2-2, 5.40 ERA) will oppose junior righthander Zac Gallen (3-1, 1.49 ERA) in Game 1 of the series.
HEATING UP
• Miami has won nine of its last 10 games – key to that stretch has been junior Zack Collins (.428, two HRs, 14 RBI), redshirt junior Edgar Michelangeli (.371, seven runs, six RBI), and sophomore Carl Chester (.421, 16 hits, three doubles, 4-for-4 steal attempts).
• Leaders on the hill include junior Danny Garcia (2-1, 2.84 ERA, 19.0 innings), junior Bryan Garcia (3.86 ERA, seven appearances, four saves, 16 strikeouts, 9.1 innings) and freshman Andrew Cabezas (1-0, 1.93 ERA, 14.0 innings, 16 strikeouts, four walks).
CLIMBING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
• Closer Bryan Garcia entered the year with the fifth-most saves in Miami history (25), and has gotten off to a hot start in 2016. His eighth save of 2016 against Bethune-Cookman (3/23).
• Garcia is chasing the all-time record for saves in a career, which is 39 – held by George Huguet (2001-2004). Garcia’s 15 saves as a freshman in 2014 tied for the seventh-most in a single season.
• Garcia moved past Danny Graves (1992-94) for sole possession of fourth place (29), and needs one more to tie Robbie Morrison (1996-98) for third (34), four more to tie Rick Raether (1984-86) for second (37) W and is six behind Huguet for first (39).

• Miami made its return to the College World Series in 2015, marking the program’s first trip to Omaha, Neb., since 2008. Miami’s 24 College World Series trips are the second-most of any program in the country
• The Hurricanes have won 48 games in the College World Series, the fourth-most of any program nationwide; Miami’s four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999, 2001) rank fifth-most
• Since the NCAA began award national seeds prior to the 1999 season, Miami has been among the top eight six seasons: 1999 (#1), 2001 (#2), 2003 (#8), 2004 (#3), 2008 (#1) and 2015 (#5)
• Of the 41 teams that have been awarded national seeds since 1999, Miami is one of just 12 programs to have earned the distinction five or more seasons.
