@CanesWTennis Ranked No. 12 Nationally
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team checks in at No. 12 in this week’s release of the Oracle/ITA rankings.
The Hurricanes have been ranked in the top 13 in eight of the nine ranking announcements this season, including six weeks ranked in the top dozen.
Miami is 7-4 on the season, with a 3-2 mark in ACC play. All four of the Hurricanes’ defeats have come away from home against teams currently ranked No. 11 or better nationally.
Head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team played just one match this past week, earning a 6-1 home victory Monday over Columbia, then No. 38 and now No. 41.
Singles and doubles rankings were not updated in this set of rankings. The Hurricanes have a quartet of players ranked in singles, including senior Stephanie Wagner at No. 6 and sophomore Sinead Lohan at No. 7. Miami also has a trio of ranked doubles pairs, with Wagner and sophomore Wendy Zhang leading the group at No. 10 in the country.
The Hurricanes will play their highest-ranked opponent of the season, second-ranked Ohio State, Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
