@CanesWTennis to Host No. 38 Columbia

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team will resume its four-match homestand Monday when it hosts No. 38 Columbia at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

Ninth-ranked Miami (6-4, 3-2 ACC) will be taking on the Lions for the first time in program history. The match will also serve as the first of four in a span of seven days.

Columbia is 8-3 on the season and has yet to open Ivy League play. The Lions have won seven of their previous eight matches, including four in a row.

The Lions feature one ranked singles player in No. 52 Kanika Vaidya and also have one ranked doubles pair, as Rima Asatrian and Alexandra Solovyev check in at No. 59.

Columbia is the 11th-straight ranked opponent the Hurricanes will be facing, including the ninth of that group in the top 40.

Miami has a quartet of ranked players, including the lone top-10 duo in the nation, with senior Stephanie Wagner at No. 6 and sophomore Sinead Lohan at No. 7. Yolimar Ogando, who has yet to play this spring due to injury, is No. 39 and fellow sophomore Wendy Zhang comes in at No. 103.

In doubles, Wagner and Zhang are ranked No. 10 in the country. Lohan and freshman Clara Tanielian, in who is in the rankings for the first time in her career, hold the No. 55 spot. Wagner and senior Clementina Riobueno are ranked No. 76.
