Miami Opens Play at Hurricane Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team opened play at the Hurricane Invitational on Monday and currently stands tied for ninth place.
The Hurricanes finished the day with a team total of 294.
The three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,061-yard Biltmore Golf Course.
Senior Kailey Walsh and junior Delfina Acosta led the Hurricanes in first round play. Both Walsh and Acosta are tied for 26th after they finished the day with a score of 73.
Walsh posted three birdies in the first round. Her first two were on her front nine and the last one was on the back nine.
Acosta posted two birdies, one on the front nine and one on the back nine.
Freshman Dewi Weber and junior Daniela Darquea are both tied for 35th after they posted opening round scores of 74. Weber tallied five birdies in the first round. Her first three came on her front nine and her final two came on her back nine. Darquea posted three birdies all of which came on the back nine.
Northwestern leads all the teams with an opening round score of 277. Northwestern’s Hannah Kim leads individual play with a first-round score of 67.
Second round action begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
