@CanesMensTennis Returns Home To Play Army
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will return to its home court to play a double-header against Army West Point on Monday, February 15.
After a two-match win streak to end the month of January, Miami (3-3) will face Army West Point (2-1) at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center at 10 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. Monday.
Most recently, the Hurricanes defeated both UCF, 5-2, and No. 68 Troy University, 4-3, to cap their latest weekend home slate.
Against Troy Miami saw success in doubles action, entering the singles competition up 1-0 against the Trojans. Miami faced difficult obstacles in singles, then the contest boiled down to a 3-3 tied match with 70th ranked Christian Langmo at the No. 2 to capture the win for Miami.
Langmo battled hard throughout his three sets against Andy Lau, confirming the final singles point, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, to give Miami the win. “Christian came up with some big forehands to clinch the match for us,” head coach Mario Rincon said.
Army West Point heads into Monday’s match with a spring record of 2-1. Against Army West Point, the Hurricanes hold an impressive overall record of 14-0.
After Army West Point, Miami will play their next two matches at home against Davidson College and Michigan. The Hurricanes will begin ACC play Sunday, March 6 against in-state rival, No. 28 Florida State.
