Miami Golf Opens Play at UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team opened play at the UCF Challenge on Sunday and is in 13th place after one round. 

Miami posted a first round team score of 310 and stands eight strokes shy of moving into the top six.

The three-day tournament is being held at the par 73, 7,217-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Freshman Dewi Weber and senior Kailey Walsh each posted opening rounds of 77 to pace the way for the Hurricanes. Weber posted a pair of birdies on the back nine, while Walsh carded one birdie on the front nine and one on the back nine.

Freshman Luiza Altmann made her Hurricane debut and is currently tied for 46th after she shot an opening round of 78.

Houston leads all teams with an opening round score of 295. Missouri’s Michelle Butler and Emily Penttila lead all individuals after both shot opening rounds of 71.
