Canes Ranked Top 15 in Both Polls
The University of Miami jumped into the top 15 in both national polls today, holding at No. 13 in the AP poll and jumping to No. 15 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
This is Miami’s sixth week in the polls this season, and the Canes’ highest rank since Dec. 1, 2014, when UM was No. 15 in both polls.
Miami has been ranked in the top 15 in both polls in just four seasons – 1998-99, 2001-02, 2012-13 and now 2015-16.
Miami opened the season receiving votes in the preseason poll, then jumped to No. 15/19 after defeating No. 16 Utah and No. 22/20 Butler in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Canes fell to No. 21 in both polls, announced Nov. 30, before moving back into the top 25, at No. 17/20 the week of Dec. 7. Miami was then No. 15/19 on Dec. 14, No. 13/16 on Dec. 21 and now No. 13/15 on Dec. 28.
No. 13/15 Miami wraps up the non-conference slate on Tuesday, Dec. 29 when the Hurricanes face the Princeton Tigers at 7 p.m. at the BankUnited Center.
