Miami Moves Up, Ranked No. 15/19 in Polls
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami has moved to No. 15 in The Associated Press and No. 19 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll this week.
The Hurricanes jumped a pair of spots in The AP poll, and moved up one position in the Coaches poll.
Miami opened the season receiving votes in the preseason poll, then jumped to No. 15/19 after defeating No. 16 Utah and No. 22/20 Butler in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Canes fell to No. 21 in both polls, announced Nov. 30, before moving back into the top 25, at No. 17/20 the week of Dec. 7.
Miami has now been ranked in four-straight polls before the new year in back-to-back seasons. In 2014-15, UM was ranked four-straight weeks from Nov. 24 to Dec. 15. Prior to that, UM was never ranked in both polls for four-straight weeks before Jan. 1.
Coach Larrañaga and the Hurricanes next face the College of Charleston Saturday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. in the BankUnited Center.
