@CanesVB Signs Dill and Sorensen

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball program added two talented players in the fall signing period.

Madison Dill and Hannah Sorensen became the newest members of the Hurricanes volleyball family, signing National Letters of Intent. Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara is excited about what the two newest Hurricanes will bring to the program.

“We are excited about our 2016 class,” Gandara said. “We return a good core of players, but we expect both Madi and Hannah to contribute immediately. We look forward to getting to work with both of these kids.”

Madison Dill | Middle Blocker | 6-foot-3 |Fleming Island, Fla. | St. John’s Country Day

Dill is a superb talent, recently selected to the 2016-16 Under Armour Girls High School All-America Third-Team. She is also a nominee for the 2015 All-Clay County Player of the Year and was named the FACA Class 3A Player of the Year and to the All-First Coast Team. A member of the high school varsity team since the eighth grade, Dill was team captain at St. John’s Country Day in both 2014 and 2015. She has helped her team to a 19-7 record and a perfect 8-0 mark in the district during the 2015 season, tallying 389 kills and 51 total blocks, while hitting .537 over 74 sets as a senior. The gifted middle blocker reached 1,000 career kills during her junior season and has amassed 1,650 in her career. Dill is one of only two St. John’s Country Day players to earn a spot in the school’s 1,000-point club. One of the top volleyball players in her area, Dill is a three-time All- Clay County selection and has been named to the Florida Times Union All-Area Team three times. Dill also has played club volleyball with JJVA for seven years, playing in four Junior Nationals and in the USA BIP Select All-Star Team Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia.

“Madi is 6-foot-3 and has a good arm,” Gandara said. “She adds a strong presence in the middle and also has good feel for the game. Madi has strong work ethic and can develop into a top middle blocker in the conference.”

Hannah Sorensen | Setter | 6-foot | Sandy, Utah | Jordan High School

A gifted setter, Sorensen is a three-year captain of her Jordan High School volleyball team. She is a two-time First Team All Region selection, earning the honors in both her junior and sophomore seasons. In 2014, Sorensen was named Team MVP, while she was selected as Best Offensive Player following her 2013 sophomore season. Sorensen has also been an outstanding club volleyball player, playing for some of the top teams in Utah since 2007. Sorensen and her club teams have consistently dominated in the Intermountain Region and she has competed at five Junior Nationals on the club volleyball circuit.

“Hannah is a skilled setter that comes from a good junior program,” Gandara said. “She is familiar with our system and the type of offense we want to run.”

Dill and Sorensen are set to join the Hurricanes prior to the 2016 volleyball season.
