Bondar in Quarterfinals at Clay Court
ORLANDO, Fla. – On Saturday, University of Miami sophomore Kevin Bondar will play in the garnet singles quarterfinals at the Collegiate Clay Court Invitational presented by VISITFLORIDA.com, in Orlando, Fla.
Bondar defeated fifth-seeded Sean Donohue of Louisville, 6-3, 6-4, in the Round of 16 to earn a spot in the garnet singles quarterfinals, where the native of Calabasas, Calif., will face third-seeded Lautaro Pane of Pepperdine on Saturday.
Nile Clark and Niclas Genovese were also in action on Friday, in the gold singles consolation bracket.
Clark first battled third-seeded Mariano Porter of UCF, a match in which the Philadelphia native lost, 6-4, 6-4. Clark then came up short, 6-1, 6-0 to Terrell Whitehurst of host school Florida State, in a consolation match.
Genovese started the day against Jose Gracia of Florida State, then battled Daniel Bustamante of Troy to a tough two-set match. Genovese lost his first match , 6-3, 6-2, then competed hard, but fell 7-6, 6-4, in his second match of the day.
The 2015 Collegiate Clay Court Invitational presented by VISITFLORIDA.com is being held Nov. 5-8 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla.
