Chaney, Herrera Sweep ACC Diving Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami divers Briadem Herrera and Carolyn Chaney were among those named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Herrera was named Male Diver of the Week after finishing first in both the 1- and 3-meter events in the Hurricanes’ meet versus Texas A&M and Incarnate Word.

The sophomore posted a score of 401.40 in the 1-meter, 26.2 points ahead of the rest of the next-best finisher, and a score of 444.65 in the 3-meter, 58.1 points ahead of the rest of the field.

Herrera’s scores were both NCAA zone qualifying marks.

Chaney earned Female Diver of the Week honors after placing in the top three in both diving events in a meet versus Texas A&M and Incarnate Word. 

The freshman finished first in the 1 meter with a score of 311.8 before finishing third in the 3 meter with a score of 321.25.

Chaney was one of two divers at the meet to earn a top-three place showing in both events and posted NCAA zone qualifying scores in both events.
